Modeling on Cam

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

SuccessIt’s a common adage in America to, “Dress for the job you want, not the one you have.” We also say, “Clothes make the (wo)man.” Or, who can forget the lyrics that a classic ZZ Top song, “Every girls’ crazy about a sharp dressed man.” What’s pretty self-evident by examining these three quotations is the idea that people notice our clothes. If we show up to a formal party wearing a jeans and a dirty T-shirt, people will take notice. Similarly, if we go on a date dressed to perfection with a style that fits our personality, people will notice. And it’s this latter, positive swing, that we wish to focus on with these three little words: “Dress for success.”

Dress for Success

When you go on cam, you are (probably) wearing some form of clothing. It might be skimpy, but it’s still clothing. What you wear will reflect what kind of a model you are and will express your personality. It’s always a good idea to choose your outfits with an eye toward what you want to accomplish on-cam. If you want to attract wealthy clients, dress in a way that will attract those wealthy clients. If you’re looking to pull in a certain niche, make sure that your personal style reflects that niche.

For the most part, people will judge you by your visual style. They will, most likely, be drawn into your visual style and that’s just fine. In the world of camming, appearance counts for a lot. Remember, by no means do you have to conform to traditional modes of beauty. You are free to hone whatever kind of ideal of beauty you think suits you the best. Be the kind of model that you wish to see on your camming platform of choice. The more you focus on your personal style, the more you “dress for success,” the more you are pulling success into your world. Be persistent, savvy, and sexy and you’re sure to be a top model in no time.

Five Tips for Cam Models

FIVE TIPS TO BEING A TOP MODEL

For your cam knowledge, here are five tips to help you succeed. The more that you make these tips a part of who you are, the more you will find yourself improving in your craft. Good luck and enjoy!

#1 Use your Voice!

In a previous article on avoiding a silent room, we discuss the value of keeping your room lively. If you have a voice, please use it! Customers are people. People like to be talked to. People like to think that they are special. If you can make your customers feel special, you’ll transport them out of this reality and into the world of fantasy. And they will love you for it. Trust us.

#2 Light it up!

Five TipsIs your room well-lit? Always ensure that you are properly lit while on cam. Unless its an essential part of your aesthetic, keep your room well-lit. Accentuate those parts of yourself that you want to show off.  Make sure that the customer can actually see what’s going on without it being too dark.

#3 Jazz up your Profile

No matter which cam site you are on, it’s important to utilize the prime real estate of your profile. And don’t just rush through it. Take your time and make sure that your profile is in top notch shape. Often, customers will check a model’s profile when they are not online, and new customers can use your profile to better get to know you. Jazz it up!

#4 Put the Time into Camming!

As with anything worth its weight, the time you put into camming will determine how you grow as a cam model. The more time you put in, the more customers will see you online and have the chance to visit your room. Be around. Get known. Take the time to settle in. You won’t regret it.

#5 Let Loose and Have Fun

Five Tips for Cam ModelsIf you’re not enjoying yourself, you’re probably not doing it right. Change up your game. Let loose and, most importantly, have fun. Camming is a performative industry. That is, you are at your peak when you are performing on cam. Therefore, it makes sense that you should focus on your well-being. Letting loose and having fun is the name of the game. Make New Clients

CLIENTELE POTENTIAL: DESCRIBE YOURSELF

MANIFEST CLIENTS

Clientele 5Customers who take a real interest in you, an interest that stretches beyond the physical, show a huge “clientele potential.” Develop those clients. The first place that a person who shows clientele potential can find you (besides your chat room) is your site bio. Depending on which cam site you use, you’ll have various options for how much you can build up your profile. No matter how many options you have, use them wisely. And, why exactly will your bio be the first place where a potential client can discover you? Because this is the one spot where a person will come to learn more about you. Personally speaking, I would definitely add this basic information:

  1. Personal interests
  2. Hobbies
  3. Likes

This triangle of self-directed content communicates who you are. Filling out any of these on your bio can quickly and clearly explain to potential clients who you are, what you like doing, and what kind of a taste you have. They also act as good ice breakers to a cold cam room.

SEXUAL INTERESTS

Clientele 3You should also obviously include any sexual interests you have, fantasies, skills, and/or talents, because these will also definitely create a spark in that potential client’s consciousness. Furthermore, consider adding in costume choices, characters or roles that you like to roleplay, what things really turn you on, and conversely, what things turn you off, as well as your favorite interactive devices (i.e. sex toys).

JUDGEMENT-FREE ZONE

Your cam room (and your presence on cam) is a place that, ideally, should be free of judgement. It should be a place where you (as the model who is in control) are able to list the things about you that you want others to know. You should be free to express what sexual parts of your character you express and what other parts you choose not to express. This is your space, a space that you own.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Clientele 1Your bio on your site of choice is an important place. Don’t let it be “wasted real estate.” Fill it up with what sets you apart from other models. Use that space to teach potential clients why are the one who they’ve all been looking for. If you haven’t done so yet, go ahead and get started. Report back here in one week and fill us all in on how filling out your bio boosted your signal and helped bring more customers into your room.

LIVELY AND APPROACHABLE: YOUR BEST LOOK

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Look Lively 2When customers enter your room, they are presented with your image. They will instinctively react to how you appear on cam — how your body appears on cam. Do you look bored? Maybe you look careless? Are you pouting in a frustrated way? Or, perhaps you are emanating an irritated vibe? No matter what, you are going to want to look lively and approachable. Sometimes, even through the distance of a webcam, people will be intimidated by you. Unless you are purposely cultivating that effect, you’ll want to work on how you are coming off to people who are coming into your room.

LIVELY SMILE!

Look Lively 4What’s one great way to look both lively and approachable? Well, there’s a saying that, “nothing is more beautiful on a man or a woman than a confident smile.” There’s something magical about the power of a welcoming smile. When you appear to be welcoming and happy you invite that kind of energy into your room. And, the more comfortable and content your customers become, the more they are going to want to spend time with you. Sometimes, we don’t even realize that we are not smiling. In truth, it’s very possible that appear too serious on cam, and hence aren’t getting the tips that you feel you deserve. Spin that around and focus on the positive energy of building a room where everyone is welcome and everyone is positive.

TALK SHOW TIME

Look Lively 4Finally, I know this is not always easy to do, but trust me, it’s worth it. And your fans will thank you, too. I compare it to the experience of watching a late night television talk show host. In every clip I watch, I’m joined by an upbeat and funny personality. Sure, sometimes such hosts discuss serious matters, but most of the time, their presence is focused on keeping things funny. That’s a major skill. Also, the television talk show host thrives on their ability to be lively and approachable. If you don’t believe me, conduct an experiment. Go to Youtube and look around for popular late night talk show host clips. Analyze their behavior, how they make their audiences laugh, how they tell jokes. And if you think such celebrities don’t apply to your situation, I think you’re wrong. In my opinion, you are an entertainer just like they are. So, take a moment and try to work on your smile. Show your room that you welcome them into your lovely space. Notice the difference.

It will be palpable.

Your Domain 1

YOUR ROOM, YOUR DOMAIN

Your room Your DomainHow you present yourself on cam is a big theme on Guide to Camming. As industry professionals and lifelong achievers, we truly believe that it makes a difference how you present yourself on cam, how you groom yourself, how you craft your behavior, and how you engage with your customers. Focus on those things which you have control over. It can make or break your cam adventure. And, heeded properly, can elevate your hours to the heights of financial freedom. It can also mean the difference between twiddling your thumbs or watching your bank account today, I’d like to offer you up one bit of wisdom that you can take with you as soon as you’re back online. It’s this: OWN YOUR DOMAIN. Or, said otherwise, YOUR ROOM, YOUR DOMAIN. Let’s break it down.

Your Domain 2You are in control of your room. Don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise. You are the one who is on cam and you are the one who fans are coming to visit. They are on your channel, in your room. If they don’t like it, they can leave. Right? Right. Don’t be afraid to think otherwise. Sure, playing into their hands is recommended, but there’s no need for you to feel shy. Literally, it’s your chat room. The more you own your domain, the more your customers will want to hang out with you. You’ll start to see the same people coming to your room week after week.

Own your domain by expressing yourself in an authentic way. Don’t be afraid to show your face. Or, don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. Let loose and explore yourself. Let this side of your personality shine through. As we repeatedly say, “Be your own unique self.” Personally, I feel that camming is special because it allows customers to spend time with a real person. That’s YOU. Don’t ever forget that. Camming is all about connection (you -> fan and fan -> you). It’s all about opening yourself to letting people come close and spend time with you. And that… that’s a real gift. You are giving the gift of your time and attention.

Your Room So, take a deep breath and say to yourself, “It’s okay to be who you are.” Feels liberating, doesn’t it? This kind of thing is helpful. Actually, we wholly encourage it. The more you opt-in to the idea of “Your Room, Your Domain,” the more free you will feel. Everyone who comes to your room has chosen you. Use that wisdom to empower yourself and really enjoy your time on cam. Own it, dear model. You deserve it.
