Appearance is important

APPEARANCE: PRESENT YOURSELF WELL

APPEARANCE IS IMPORTANT

Hopefully, coming into the world of webcam modeling, you have some kind of interest in human sexuality other than self-gratification. What I mean is that hopefully, in your interest in human sexuality, you have already thought about your own appearance (both inner and outer) and how you present yourself on cam. In this article we’ll open up the idea of appearance and how to better understand and work with your appearance. In doing so, you’ll find yourself more confident and more able to comprehend how to succeed on cam. So, sit back and relax. Dive in deep with these three ideas on appearance and cultivating your image.

VISUAL CULTURE

AppearanceWe are a visual culture. There’s no way around that. Humans use of sight and visual interpretation is unparalleled. This is why we have web cameras and not only web microphones. Can you imagine a chat room that is ONLY voice? It would be radio. Surely, we can appreciate our other senses, but the sense of sight reigns supreme. In this way, you’ll want to focus your attention on how you appear on cam. Most customers will judge you rather immediately. There’s not much of a way to get around this. Customers choose impulsively and choose based on how your visual image stimulates their unconscious. What I mean is that your visual image will be judged (subconsciously) by how you stimulate their loins or the beat of their heartbeat.

CUSTOMER CONNECTIONAppearance

In the real world, sexuality is all about connection. What’s interesting about the cam world is that, though we are not engaged in actual skin-to-skin sex, we definitely foster an environment of connectivity by way of the digital realm. Essentially, though the eyes are focused on the representation of the performer on the screen, the minds of the customer and the cam model are connected (at least ideally speaking). Growing this connection is vital to an invigorating session.

BE AN ICON

AppearanceAn icon is an image of the Ideal. That’s essentially what you have become upon embarking on the wonderful journey of becoming a cam model. Present yourself well and let that iconic flavor that you bring to the table fuel your flow from beginner to webcam legend. Think about your own life. Who are some sex-appeal icons who come to mind? What can you learn by observing their on-camera behavior? How do they connect with their fans? What makes them stand out? What do they do that truly makes them “iconic?” Think about this. Learn from this.

AppearanceIn closing, how you present yourself and how you work to connect with your fans will work to your advantage and escalate your experiences on cam. My belief is that you’ve come to this site to improve yourself as a webcam model. Maybe you’ve come here as an absolute newcomer to the industry or maybe you’ve come here as an experienced model who is looking to improve. Either way, your focus is the same. You yearn for growth and self-improvement. By using the tips and advice that we are providing you with, you’ll find yourself improving on-cam almost immediately. It will all come down to how much and how strongly you implement these changes.

PROFILE PICS: WHAT SETS YOU APART

It’s a steamy summer night in the city. Imagine that you are someone looking to spend a few quality hours on a cam site. You’ll be looking for that extra-special model who’ll be the best choice for an evening in. Now, imagine that you come to your preferred cam site of choice and are confronted with a wall of profile pictures or images from the chat room (depending on the site). Your customer is going to think impulsively about his/her choice. That is, your customer will only spend a split second deciding which model he/she wants to spend time with. Snap your fingers. Click! Just like that.

GTC Profile Set Apart WomanUltimately, your customer is going to go with whichever model best fits what they are looking for at that exact moment. Of course, it might be you. However, it might be someone else. The only thing that you can do to catch that fish is to tailor your profile pic to represent the best version of yourself that you wish to display to potential customers. In this business you can’t please everyone, but you can control your niche, your image, your visual appeal. And the message in bringing this to your conscious awareness is that we live in a world of image. Controlling and shaping your profile image is of the utmost importance to how your fans will view you.

THE FIRST HOOK

GTC Profile Pic Female 1Your profile picture is the first “hook” that entices customers to your room. Imagine you see two images side-by-side. One image is a poorly lit selfie that barely displays the model’s face or whatever appealing side of their body they are trying to express through the framing of the pic. The other profile picture is a professionally shot image that shows a tailored and carefully crafted image of the model in HD quality, a stunning representation of what the model is offering. Which pic do you think that you would click on? Think about it.

Exactly.

As a professional or aspiring webcam model, it’s always important to remember that your profile picture is the first thing any customer sees of you. Your name might seduce, but we are visual creatures. Your picture is everything. Not to crank up the pressure too highly, but this profile pic is your “image” on the site. Moreover, it is your business card, your poster, your advertisement and the first impression a customer has of you.

The rule of thumb here is that it’s important that your image be something captivating, eye catching and appealing. Also, the angle should be attractive, highlighting whichever part of you that you want coming to the forefront. In brief, it should display your best feature and your selling points.

IMAGE SPEAKS VOLUMES

GTC Male Profile 1Your image speaks volumes about you. It can even determine your “quality” as a model and can even decide, in a customer’s mind, if you are a top model, that is, a model who is worthy of top pay. Always, be aware of how you are portraying yourself. If you want to be paid like a professional model, you need to carry and represent yourself as one. Remember, customers don’t know that you are new.  Selfies are great for social media. But here you are a genuine model.

Customers know how to pick out models who will settle for less and models who expect top dollar. Which do you want to be?

YOUR UNIQUE STYLE SETS YOU APART

Now, don’t get discouraged. Pick yourself up and get ready to rock. No cam site outright expects you to have a professional shoot done. They more than welcome new cam models. Maybe try an image that is Instagram worthy. Ask yourself, what does my profile image say about me? What does it say about me as a cam model? Are customers likely to pic me out of the other models on the site? Do I look fun? Am I captivating? Do I look appealing?

A generic, basic selfie is no competition to a model with professional images. It is easy to fake it. Get dolled up and have a captivating pose with good lighting. Having an image only showing your butt or your cleavage is great, but it is also a dime a dozen. Any customer can go into any room and find a great pair or great abs, legs, etc. That is not what sets you apart, and makes you unique. Your face is what sets you apart. Your unique style sets you apart.

Remember that… “Your unique style sets you apart.” It always will. When a customer decides to check out your site, they are drawn in by your profile pic. They are drawn in by your essence. Make them feel it. Be your best self.

Instagram for Cam Models

Instagram for Cam Models: Part One

Are you looking for a social media platform that thrives on its visual appeal? Try Instagram. I have to admit that I’m a bit late to the game when it comes to Instagram, but I’d definitely like to tell you a few reasons why I believe it could be a wise strategic move to further advertise your brand. Instagram, if you’re not already familiar, is a photo-based social media platform. What do I mean by that? I mean that, as you scroll through your Instagram feed, you’ll see that every post is a photo. Of course, posts have a section to describe them, tag their location, as well as use hashtags (ALL immensely helpful to spreading the post), but by and large, the meat of how well your photo will travel (i.e. how much it will be “liked”) is due to the actual content you are posting in the photo that you choose to post. Let me break it down for you.

There are a few important choices that you have when you post a photo to Instagram:

  1. Who is your target audience?
  2. What is your Instagram wall telling people about your brand?
  3. How are you utilizing your Instagram bio real estate?

TARGET AUDIENCE

instagram earn moneyIdeally, you should conceive of your target audience as those who would follow you into your chat room and, hopefully, spend money on you. With that said, you start to narrow. What is it about your physical features that excite your target audience? What is it about your personality that gets them going? How do you engage with them on social media? Do they comment on certain parts of your personality over others? Try to identify who your ideal audience is and work to build them up and keep them close. They will reward you for doing so. They will never want to leave you.

YOUR INSTAGRAM WALL

When people jump to your profile, what do they see? People are going to, most likely, make a split second decision about who you are and what value you will provide them simply by a first glance at your wall. Curate your wall such that potential fans won’t be able to NOT follow you. They will be compelled to follow along. There are many ways to ensure that your wall is expressing your brand the way you want, but here are a few tips: consider using the same filter, consider highlighting a particular theme within your pictures, consider crafting your pictures so that one picture leads to the next and so on. Any conscious effort you put into curating your Instagram wall will pay off.

INSTAGRAM BIO

Instagram Make MoneyYour bio is another area that you’ll benefit from tailoring to meet the expectations of your brand. You can use hashtags in your bio. You can also add a link to your bio. Consider your bio your luxury apartment that’s now on the market. People who come to your page will want to take a look at your “luxury apartment.” Make them want to enter. Make them want to spend some time with you. Most importantly, make them want to “Follow” you and become a fan.

Camming Confidentially: Part 2 General Privacy and Safety Tips

As promised, here’s part 2 (and read part one if you haven’t yet) of my tips for maintaining your privacy and security as a cam model. This post will focus on some important steps for securing both your personal and professional social media accounts. Camming confidentially is of upmost importance. We’re here to help. I’ll preface this by saying that some models who want to focus on their careers simply delete their private social media accounts altogether. Honestly, they’re by far the biggest culprit in opening the gates for your camming life to creep into your private life. But I’m sure this isn’t possible for everyone, so here are some essential steps for keeping your privacy intact.

Privacy Settings

On your personal Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, make sure you use the privacy settings to their fullest. This will keep strangers out, and make sure only your curated group of friends and family members can see your posts.

Use a Nickname

Change your display name to a nickname. If one of your fans happens across your profile and recognizes you, your real name still won’t be visible, providing your privacy settings are maxed out.

Reverse Image Search

If you decide to keep separate profiles for your on-cam and off-cam persona, never mix photos between the two. A reverse image search can lead a curious viewer to your other profile very easily.

Turn Off Location Services

The most popular social media sites have features that tag your posts with your approximate (or sometimes your exact) whereabouts. A fan knowing your exact real-time location can be disruptive or even dangerous. Make sure this feature is disabled before posting to your professional account. Here’s how to do it on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and for turning on “Ghost Mode” on Snapchat.

Touristy Stuff

Never post photos of your neighborhood, local landmarks, your awesome new car, or even your pets to your cam-model profiles. Any aspect of your off-cam life can be a privacy risk.

What the Heck is an EXIF?

Another thing to know is that sometimes the pictures and video you post contain something called EXIF data. This information usually contains your camera model, settings, and editing software. It can also contain location information in some cases. For a better sense of what EXIF data is, and how to remove it, check out this article.

Again! No Clicking!

At the risk of repeating myself: Never open links from your customers. Remember, always operate confidentially. Never open links. Not in chat, email, or a tweet. No matter how trustworthy they seem, this is the best policy. Apart from malware and viruses, there is also software that can reveal your IP address, which can give away your location.

As it is, becoming a cam model will make you something of a public persona. As you gain viewers and fans, many of them will actively try to learn more about you. Also, you will find this both flattering and invasive at times. And while none of these steps, or those I listed in part 1, are cure-alls for keeping your personal and professional lives from uncomfortably mixing, they should offer you several layers of protection when it comes your privacy and your safety. In closing, I hope this was helpful. Stay safe, and thanks for reading.
