AVOID A SILENT ROOM

What is a silent room? Well, a silent room is a room where no one is engaging with you, where you are not engaging with your fans, and where, in general, nothing much is really going on. Maybe you’ve had the experience of visiting other models’ cam rooms and, upon entering, seen that no one is chatting, no one is talking. Maybe the model is gazing off into space. Or, maybe he or she is checking their cell phone or yawning, etc. Ask yourself, is this a good look for a cam model? Is this type of behavior going to attract customers? Do you think customers will be impressed by this behavior? Professionally, we at Guide to Camming, tend to think not.

Avoid a silent room… at all costs. Your time on cam is limited. Maybe you are online for two hours, four hours, or eight hours. In that time, treat your room like a performance space. And always remember your purpose. Do you want customers to take you into some kind of a private show? Maybe you want customers to throw tips your way in the open room? Whatever your purpose, strive to make that happen. Being bored to appearing bored won’t accomplish that goal. The more goal-oriented you are, the better results you will have. And maybe you don’t have a goal. That’s fine. Be fluid. Let yourself be open to the possibilities and see what happens. But, at all times, don’t settle for a silent room. You are in control and you are the star of the show.

Music helps. Music can help you open yourself up on cam. It can also help lighten the mood of your room. Try creating a playlist that makes you feel sexy and confident and compliments your persona on cam. What would you call such a playlist? Would the first song be one that energizes the room or would it be something personal and inward-facing? The playlist you create or choose should suit your style. Show customers who you are by how you express yourself. Personally, I like to choose music that gets me in an absolutely hyped-up mood and makes me feel sexy so that my camming persona never drops.

How about you?

Guide to Camming Tips

TIPPED? GIVE THANKS FOR THE TIP!

MoneyGiving thanks on cam for a tip is always the right move. Imagine that you are a customer. Maybe you work three jobs. Or, maybe you work one very laborious full-time job. Your money counts. Every dollar counts. As a treat to yourself, you choose to spend time at your cam site of choice. There, you find a model who really gets you jazzed up. You want to tip. So, when the mood hits you, you drop a tip to show the model how much you care. But… the model doesn’t reply. It seems like the model really doesn’t care. And, suddenly, more customers start tipping. The model says nothing. He or she just carries on. Did they see your tip? Did they notice it? Maybe they were just too busy. So, you wait until a different day, a slower day, and drop another tip. But, even then, upon tipping, the model says nothing. You know that they saw the tip. You know that they felt the tip (it was a nice-sized tip!) yet, they said nothing. If you were that customer, do you think you’d want to keep visiting that model? I’d guess not. People like to be a part of something that they desire. If you receive a tip, please show your appreciation to the tipper. That one act of appreciation could keep that customer coming back for a long time.

Did you have a private show with a customer? Make sure you tell them how thankful you are at the end of the private show. Being taken into any kind of a private situation means that the customer took a particular liking to the magic that you are spreading. That customer wanted to spend time solely with you. And, in this competitive atmosphere, you’ll want every private show you can get. It’s what sets you apart from the competition. Are you in-demand? If not, study this site and we’re sure that you’ll grow yourself into an impressive cam model.

Tell your customer how much you love their company and how they make your day when they come visit you and how special they make you feel. At the end of the day, make sure you tell them how special theyTips are. Everyone likes to know that they are special. Customers are no different. Show your appreciation to them and that appreciation will keep them coming back. It’s the simplest truth, but believe me, it is a truth to be reckoned with.

And you, you’ll be seen as special, too, because that customer will remember how you thanked them. And, if they visit other models who fail to reflect their uniqueness, you can bet that they’ll be back to your room in no time.

Appearance is important

APPEARANCE: PRESENT YOURSELF WELL

APPEARANCE IS IMPORTANT

Hopefully, coming into the world of webcam modeling, you have some kind of interest in human sexuality other than self-gratification. What I mean is that hopefully, in your interest in human sexuality, you have already thought about your own appearance (both inner and outer) and how you present yourself on cam. In this article we’ll open up the idea of appearance and how to better understand and work with your appearance. In doing so, you’ll find yourself more confident and more able to comprehend how to succeed on cam. So, sit back and relax. Dive in deep with these three ideas on appearance and cultivating your image.

VISUAL CULTURE

AppearanceWe are a visual culture. There’s no way around that. Humans use of sight and visual interpretation is unparalleled. This is why we have web cameras and not only web microphones. Can you imagine a chat room that is ONLY voice? It would be radio. Surely, we can appreciate our other senses, but the sense of sight reigns supreme. In this way, you’ll want to focus your attention on how you appear on cam. Most customers will judge you rather immediately. There’s not much of a way to get around this. Customers choose impulsively and choose based on how your visual image stimulates their unconscious. What I mean is that your visual image will be judged (subconsciously) by how you stimulate their loins or the beat of their heartbeat.

CUSTOMER CONNECTIONAppearance

In the real world, sexuality is all about connection. What’s interesting about the cam world is that, though we are not engaged in actual skin-to-skin sex, we definitely foster an environment of connectivity by way of the digital realm. Essentially, though the eyes are focused on the representation of the performer on the screen, the minds of the customer and the cam model are connected (at least ideally speaking). Growing this connection is vital to an invigorating session.

BE AN ICON

AppearanceAn icon is an image of the Ideal. That’s essentially what you have become upon embarking on the wonderful journey of becoming a cam model. Present yourself well and let that iconic flavor that you bring to the table fuel your flow from beginner to webcam legend. Think about your own life. Who are some sex-appeal icons who come to mind? What can you learn by observing their on-camera behavior? How do they connect with their fans? What makes them stand out? What do they do that truly makes them “iconic?” Think about this. Learn from this.

AppearanceIn closing, how you present yourself and how you work to connect with your fans will work to your advantage and escalate your experiences on cam. My belief is that you’ve come to this site to improve yourself as a webcam model. Maybe you’ve come here as an absolute newcomer to the industry or maybe you’ve come here as an experienced model who is looking to improve. Either way, your focus is the same. You yearn for growth and self-improvement. By using the tips and advice that we are providing you with, you’ll find yourself improving on-cam almost immediately. It will all come down to how much and how strongly you implement these changes.

GTC Engage Customers 1

Engage the Mind and the Body Will Follow

BE INTERESTING

GTC Girl Engage Have you ever been involved in a conversation where the person you are talking to won’t stop talking about themselves? Think closely. What usually ends up happening in such a situation? In my experience, my eyes start to grow heavy, my vision blurs from the boredom, and my head hits the table before I even know it. Yes, it’s painfully boring when a person spends too much time talking about themselves. What will set you apart is the level at which you are genuinely interested in your customers. Engage them. Remember that customers, like anyone else, want to feel desired and wanted. So, what can you do? Here are a few simple things that you can start doing today to better cultivate a sense of becoming more interested in your room.

PEOPLE, NOT BANKS ($$$)

GTC Engage Customers 2First, Get to know them as a person, not a bank. When performing, don’t just pleasure yourself and stare at the ceiling. Instead, talk and engage with your customer. Get off to them, or at least appear to do so. People genuinely want to be fed their value and feel sexy and wanted and desired. Assure your customer has an experience they will never forget and keep them coming back for more.

KEEP NOTES (YOU’LL THANK ME LATER)

Second, keep notes. Notes are a great way for you to remember details about particular customers. Trust me. When you start having many fans who want to spend time with you, it’ll be to your advantage to be organized and show them that, not only do you remember them, but you remember particular details about them. That kind of deep level will really set you apart from the competition.

ENGAGE YOUR SENSES

GTC Engage GuyFinally, get engaged with your five senses (and try to engage your customers’ senses). Even through a digital screen, various senses can be engaged positively by using your imagination and encouraging your customer to use their imagination. Engage the mind and the body will follow. Plus, customers will definitely be more convinced that you are interested in them if you are curious about what they look like, what they smell like (what cologne or perfume they wear), how tall they are, what their voice sounds like, etc. Be genuinely interested in getting to know them. You are the star, but help them feel like the center of attention as well. Ask them what some of their fantasies are and what kind of people they are attracted to, and then create that character for them in your next show together.

TIPS TO SUCCEED AS A CAM NOOB!

There are a lot of advice blogs for cam models, and it follows that there is a lot of advice, a lot of tips. Most is helpful. Some is subjective. Before getting into the subtle nuances of why we do what we do, I thought I’d boil it all down to some basic policies that work for me. Adopting these practices helped me a lot when I was starting out, and continue to serve me well as time goes on. I’d like to think this is geared specifically toward men, but I hope it helps girls too.

BEWARE THE STARE

Staring at your chat screen in silence is one of the first things what will drive customers out of your room. In radio broadcasting, they call it dead air. There will be days your customers will be talkative, conversational, and make requests of you. There will be days they hang on your every word. But there will also be quiet first-timers looking for a way to get to know you. In times like these, it’s important to remember you’re an entertainer. You must entertain. Tell a sexy story. Ask them questions. The best cam sites have a “whisper” feature in chat. Use it, and don’t be afraid to be intimate! It’s a great tool for getting shy customers to open up. They’ve come to engage with you. Invite them to and you’ll be surprised by the results.

ONE THING AT A TIME

Don’t text or make calls while camming. Don’t do your homework. Keep your music at a level where customers can still hear you talk. Customers will not feel engaged if you aren’t paying attention to them. We’re human. Stuff comes up. If something pressing needs your attention, tell your viewers you’ll be back soon and log out to take care of it. If you don’t think this is a big deal, check out the review sections of Chaturbate or Flirt4Free and see how much customers like a distracted model.

HONESTY IS THE BEST… WELL, YOU KNOW

This is a 2-parter. First, be as honest as you can (without risking your safety and privacy) about yourself, your likes and dislikes. While the sexy stuff is a big part of camming, the personal connections you make are equally important. Your repeat customers (aka your biggest tippers) will inevitably be the ones who feel close to you both inside and out. But you should also be honest about your limits. If a customer asks you to do something you’re not ready to do, tell them you can’t politely and apologetically. Don’t lead them on! Even if they go elsewhere to meet those needs, you’ve established a non-judgmental trust that could bring them back for many tips to come.

KEEP YOUR “TOOLS” HANDY

Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. I mean to say, if you keep toys, costumes, and fetish stuff nearby, it’s right there when someone asks you to use it. When someone in chat says “do you have duct tape and nipple clamps?” and you say: “yeah, I’ve got them right here,” a couple of things happen. First, they know they’ve come to the right place. Second, they feel safe in sharing their desires with you. Trust is huge in getting repeat customers. And it’ll net you nice tips.

SURE, I’LL DO THAT RIGHT AWAY

On the subject of repeat customers who ask you to do stuff: when someone asks you to do something, get to it right away. Especially when doing a paid show. This is a time-is-money environment. Dragging out your strip routine when a paying customer is asking for more actually risks you losing that customer. Short term gain, long term loss.  Customers who come away from your show feeling satisfied will come back. Customers who think you teased too much, or they had to overspend to see that cockring will probably go elsewhere. It’s simple math. You earn less from one 45 minute show on Monday than you do from Three 25 minute shows over the course of a week.

I-C-U

I’ll get into this at length in another post, but one tip is to always ask your customers if they have a cam too. Most of the big cam sites have a camera-to-camera feature, and I’ve found that this is one of the best ways to make your customers feel engaged, and let them know you’re interested in more than their money. Some will be too shy to try it, so don’t push. But it’s always good to let them know they have the option. Interactive toys that respond to tips can also be a big draw. I’ll have some more in-depth write-ups on these in another post as well. But think of it like this. Cam modeling is to porn as video games are to watching TV. One is passive, where the viewer just watches. The other attempts to immerse you, and make your thoughts and decisions feel important. The more immersive you cam show is, the more customers will return for its “replay value.”

HAVE FUN ON CAM!

Here’s our final tip. Yeah. It’s a job. Yeah.  We’re in it to make a living, first and foremost. But I find a lot of customers get turned off when you get too financial about things. This doesn’t mean you should give away the goods for free. It means, you have to entice them into spending money, entice them to tip, instead of asking for or demanding it. It’s a skill. You can learn it. Flash. Tease. Play games. Part of what they’re paying for is the fantasy your friendship and money grubbing breaks what actors call “the fourth wall.”

Of course, there’s a lot more to doing this successfully than what I wrote here, but I hope this is a good jumping off point. Stay tuned, as I plan on elaborating on all this and more very soon. Thanks for reading!
